Pedro wrote:

“I especially enjoyed reading ‘The Poem that Almost Was’ by Laura Garrison: the meter, the surreal elements, an excellent poem.”

Thanks Pedro, Laura will be happy to see this.

Contest?

11 02 2011

How many of you, our readers and contributors, would be interested in a Puffin Circus Poetry and Art contest with a $200 prize in each category? (There would of course be a small entrance fee.) We are kicking this idea around. So tell us what you think by leaving a comment here.

“We Never Dreamed of…”

7 02 2011

From Herb:

“I love the Circus’ fusion of great artwork and great poetry. Having interned at the Painted Bride Quarterly in college, I have an idea of the work that goes into maintaining a journal. Of course, we never dreamed of cranking one out every month!”

Thanks for reading us Herb, and thank you for the compliment. I’m glad to know someone out there knows how difficult this is.

(This is why we are so in need of your donations.)

From Wilda:

“Thank you for your lively contributions to the world of poetry. I especially enjoyed “Monopoly” by Ben Rasnic, in the November issue of Puffin Circus.”

Way to go Ben. You have another fan.

Accepted Artists

18 01 2011

Here is an introduction to some artists that will be featured in the not too distant future in Puffin Circus .

Andrew Abbott -  Currently lives and paints in philadelphia. he doesn’t put his pants on like anybody else. more of his work can be found at allabbott.com

Brett Stout - Brett Stout is a 31 year old artist living in Myrtle Beach, SC. He is a high school dropout and former construction worker turned college graduate and paramedic. He creates art while mainly hung-over in a small cramped apartment in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Steve Cartwright - It’s well known that an artist becomes more popular by dying, so Steve Cartwright is sequestered in his studio pummeling his head with a frozen mackerel. He’s done art for several magazines, newspapers, websites, commercial and governmental clients, books, and scribbling – but mostly drooling – on tavern napkins…

Poet Updates

18 01 2011

We haven’t been doing a very good job of keeping you updated on what’s coming up in future issues. We try though. Here is who will be featured in February So far: Anna Fitting, Cameron Witbeck, Carol Lynn Grellas, and Laura Garrison.

We are still sifting through submissions, but as it stands we still have plenty of room in February’s issue. So keep submitting!

Readers Note #2:

14 01 2011

Laura writes:

“I very much enjoyed the January issue of Puffin Circus, especially
Chantel Schott’s art and Joseph Ferguson’s “Metro North,” which conveys an imaginative experience with just the right imagery in a way that feels both new and familiar.”

Thanks Laura. What do you think about “Metro North” or Chantel Schott, or anything else for that matter? Let us know. Make your comments right here or e-mail us.
